Sound Project

In class, we started learning about sound. I was unaware of how much time and work goes into the sounds of a film. We learned about the multiple types of sound used in films like sound motifs, synchronous and asynchronous sound, etc. Part of the lesson was about foley stages and the creativity that goes into just making one particular sound. This led us to our projects.

We had to create a one- or two-minute scene that would tell a story using sound effects. After selecting a scene, we outlined the sounds needed, with the restriction of only seven words. For the project, an audio recording with a minimum of four noises created from everyday items had to be produced and turned into a foley video. The audio editing timeline, a foley film, and an edited audio file were in the final submissions

My partner and I decided to come up with both a familiar and loud scene, leaving school. During brainstorming, we broke down the routine of leaving the classroom to going home. The outline of the project included familiar sounds of the school like our school bell and the chatter. This outline helped to organize our sounds by making it easier to place them while editing. We used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit this project. Next time, I would like to add more foley sounds and become more creative with them. But overall, the organization of the sound was very well done.
